There was a good turnout for the Optimist Club of Arcola's 29th Annual Snowmobile rally on Saturday.

The club has been hosting this rally to raise funds for various community projects in Arcola and the surrounding area since 1976. It involves Snowmobilers travelling for about 60 miles.

Rally Chair, Geordan Workman said there were more riders than he expected.

“We had 407 riders, so overall a really good turn out,” Workman said. “The weather was perfect and cooperated, and the snow was good. Trails were in excellent shape.”

Workman added that the event was a great success thanks to help from sponsors, raffle tickets, and the riders.

“Sponsors were a big part, and then we have our raffle. We raffled off some vouchers for Alsports (Sales) in Regina, so that was a big part of our fundraiser, we sold over 3,000 tickets that way. Then the 407 riders we had given $20 a hand. So all and all it all came together and worked really good for us."

Workman is thankful to the Moose Mountain Snowmobile Club for grooming the trails so that everyone could ride safely.
