I attended the 50th Anniversary of OSAC this past weekend. The weekend is a time for performing and visual arts presenters from across our province to share the highlights of the past year and plan for the coming year.

For the Performing Arts delegates, there are opportunities to not only share their experiences but to view 14 live mini showcases. The showcase hopefuls have applied and auditioned in hopes that they will be chosen from over a hundred applicants. They hope to be chosen to present their talent to the provincial delegates. This event is instrumental in choosing concerts concerts for the upcoming season.

In my fifty years of working with OSAC , I have attended hundreds of showcases BUT never had the pleasure to see a Weyburn talent grace the showcase stage. This year I was so proud to see that Meagan Milatz would be part of a duo. Meagan and Amy Hillis from Regina are the piano and violin duo named Meagan and Amy. I have followed Meagan and her outstanding piano career for years as have so many Weyburn and area fans and their performance was a highlight for me.

Meagan and Amy are on and off stage an engaging young couple. They offer a vibrant and delightful performance. I was so proud when they were introduced, not only as prairie young ladies but that Meagan is from Weyburn. I was even prouder after their excellent performance. I have waited a long time to see a Weyburn person showcase and it was worth it.

The weekend at the OSAC conference is key for Weyburn Concert Series. It is with great anticipation that we begin the process of planning for the 2019/20 season. We are ever vigilant to plan a Series with a variety of enjoyable and educational concerts at affordable prices. In closing we wish to thank our audience for their continued support.
