Our Member of Parliament is bringing up the issue of the long-gun registry once again.

Souris-Moose Mountain MP Ed Komarnicki feels it's time for the long gun registry to be scrapped once and for all. The Conservative Government is trying to move forward on that motion.

Komarnicki explains, "It's still in committee and there's a lot of jostling going on. I know that the committee appeared to be stacked with those that wanted to keep the registry going. I know our Chair of Human Resources Candice Hoeppner, whose Private Member Bill it is wasn't given the full opportunity to speak or call the witnesses she wanted to do, so there's certainly some games being played. Ultimately the bill will come back to the House for a vote. I'm not sure if that will be before we recess for the summer. Unfortunately the Liberal Party Leader has said he will whip is members to vote for preserving the long-gun registry."

Komarnicki says the Bloc are opposed to the bill while the NDP are planning a free vote.
