Multiple media outlets across Saskatchewan are taking part in the Critical Care On the Air Radiothon for STARS presented by GMS, and the halfway total for the two-day event is $160,101.

The fundraiser for STARS Saskatchewan ran from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. yesterday and will run again during the same time slot today on 28 radio stations including Magic 103 here in Weyburn.

STARS has bases in Saskatoon and Regina. They both cost about $10.5 million to operate yearly. Half of that cost is covered by the provincial government, and the other half comes from community support.

STARS has flown over 45,000 missions across Canada since it started out in Calgary in 1985. There have been over 7,600 missions in Saskatchewan since their Saskatoon and Regina bases began operating in 2012.

Just yesterday, they flew missions to Arcola, Meadow Lake, North Battleford, and Shaunavon.

You can donate online HERE, or call the Viterra Lifeline at 1 877 50 STARS between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow.
