The Weyburn Leisure Centre was a busy place today as residents celebrated Canada Day. Although the clouds and severe thunderstorm watch threatened the outdoor event, even forcing the kids out of the pool for a while, the rain didn't fall on the event, which ended at 4 p.m., just before a short drizzle.

The all-day celebration included several free events such as crafts, face painting, a magic show, swimming, birthday cake and a visit from some Disney Princesses. The Royal Canadian Legion Colour Guard performed the traditional flag ceremony at 10 a.m. in honour of Canada's 151st birthday.

The festivities aren't over yet. The annual fireworks display will take place at the exhibition grounds around 10:30 p.m.
