Weyburn’s Beaver and Cub Scouts are scouting out new members, and registration is open now.

Parents can sign up their children at Scouts.ca.

“Registration is pretty easy,” Beavers and Cubs leader, Lise Soles said. “We offer programs for ages 5 through 17.”

A parent's night takes place this evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Grace United Church.

“That's where any questions [can be asked] and also for people who are thinking of registering their child but wanted to know information can come down.”

They are currently in need of leaders, and will provide all of the necessary training to those who qualify.

“They do go through a screening process because we want to ensure the safety not only of the youth but also for the leaders themselves. Criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks have to be done. We do require some references so we can find out what kind of a person they are.”

Meetings begin for scouts ages 11 to 13 begin on September 12th, and Beavers and Cubs begin their meetings on September 15th. Their first camp is set for the end of September, with activities already planned.
