While many are still concerning themselves with the dark and spooky side of the fall season, others are preparing for all of the many charitable activities of the pre-Christmas season.

One of those important pre-Christmas activities is getting volunteers signed up for the Weyburn Salvation Army's annual Christmas Kettle campaign, which runs in the month of December leading up to Christmas.

"We are currently seeking volunteers to be bell-ringers for the month of December. Whether that be individuals, businesses, or service groups, everyone is welcome to come and help us out our kettles," said Community Ministries Worker Shannon Fodchuk.

It's a great opportunity for bell-ringing volunteers to do some socializing while passively collecting donations for the many programs the Salvation Army runs year-round. Some of those manning the kettles just jingle the supplied bells, while others perform live music.

"We'll be out Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays in December and we are booking two-hour time slots for those," she noted.

Fodchuk said they are hoping to fill those slots sooner than later, and any groups or individuals who would like to get involved can call or come down in person to sign up for one of the various time slots.

"It's great for like sports groups to come," she added. "Businesses can wear their gear to promote their business, advertising as they're helping us, too."
