The field is now set for the SJHL postseason, as regular season play wrapped up Wednesday night. All three games were postponed from Tuesday.

The biggest question heading into the games Wednesday was who would get the tenth and final seed for the post-season. The Melville Millionaires were just one point back of the Melfort Mustangs, and needed to pick up a win over the Estevan Bruins, and hope the Humboldt Broncos could top the Mustangs in regulation.

The other question was who would finish in first in the Sherwood Division. The Nipawin Hawks entered the game with a two point edge on the Flin Flon Bombers, but a win in regulation would give the Bombers the division title, as they held the tiebreaker between the two teams.

In Melville, it would be Estevan coming out on top 4-2. The Bruins and Millionaires traded goals in the first period, and were tied at two. Neither team was able to break the deadlock in the second, and most of the third, until Matt McNeil scored his second of the game with 8:10 left on the clock. Nolan Ferguson picked up the insurance marker, with an empty net goal with 23 seconds left on the clock. The loss spelled the end of the season for the Millionaires, who rallied in the late stages of the season for the push to make the playoffs

The Mustangs, who were still on the ice when the final in Melville was determined, were hoping to pick up one point in their trip to Humboldt. They jumped out to an early lead, and were up 4-2 late in the third period. Then, two goals in 22 seconds from the Broncos tied the game up, as Trent Huitema and Logan Boulet found the back of the net. Humboldt finished off the comeback in overtime, as Quinton Ong, playing his first game of the season for the Broncos after being called up from the Midget AAA Saskatoon Contacts, scored his second goal of the game.

The Flin Flon Bombers have been dominating the Nipawin Hawks this season, and they looked to continue the trend Wednesday night as the Hawks made the trek over to the Whitney Forum. The winner of the game would win the Sherwood Division pennant, and clinch second overall in the SJHL. The Bombers shut out Nipawin 4-0. While the two teams were tied in terms of points, and Nipawin had more wins on the year, Flin Flon had the tiebreakers, as they won seven of the eight games the two teams played all season.

With the final day of the SJHL regular season now in the books, the playoff field is now set. The Notre Dame Hounds will take on the Melfort Mustangs in one survivor series, while the Weyburn Red Wings take on the Kindersley Klippers in the other. The third place Estevan Bruins will take on the Yorkton terriers in the quarterfinals, while the 4th seeded Nipawin Hawks take on the number five seed Humboldt Broncos. The Battlefords North Stars and the Flin Flon Bombers will have to wait to see who their opponents are. The Battlefords will take on the lower seeded winner of the two survivor series matchups, while the Bombers play the other winner.

The postseason begins Thursday night in Weyburn, when the Red Wings take the ice against the Klippers at Crescent Point Place. The game starts at 7:30 p.m.
