From February 18th to 24th, athletes from across the province will converge on North Battleford for the Saskatchewan Winter Games. Many of those athletes will be on teams in a number of disciplines, representing Team Southeast.

Some of the rosters for those teams have been announced. Athletes from across the region will be participating.

The target shooting team is comprised of six athletes and two coaches. The male athletes on the team are Craig and Rylan Waffle (Balgonie), and Kyle Stewart (Indian Head). They are coached by Marvin Waffle (Balgonie). The female athletes are Victoria Stewart (Indian Head) and Lauren Kohl (Montmartre). Their coach is Lisa Borgerson (Lebret).

The gymnastics team has ten athletes in total and three coaches. Julie Rush, Alexie Daviduk, Jake Dammann and Brittney Honig (Weyburn), Brooke Hodgson (Estevan), Amaya Drumm and Sasha West (Wawota), Maci Thompson (Maryfield), and Presley Greiner and Skylar Webster (Indian Head) will be competing. They are coached by Kyla Walbaum (Halbrite), Jodie Dunham (Wawota) and Carley Evans (Weyburn).

The male hockey team consists of first-year bantam-aged players. They are coached by Kyle Hoium (Midale), Todd White (Warman) and Tim Bear (Ochapowace). The team includes Dylan Ernst, Levi Krienke, Dallen Oxelgren and Ty Boren (Weyburn), Jackson Miller, Alec Waldegger, Kaden Chrest and Mason Fichter (Estevan), Carter Bear and Trinity Bear (Whitewood/Ochapowace), Austin Davis (Redvers), Colby Durr (Bromhead), Andrew Altwasser (Yellow Grass), Connor Box (Corning), Colby Cuddington (Manor), Mason Kukura (Bienfait), Daxton Lang (White City), James Mann (Carievale), Keagan Merriman (Wilcox), and Matthew Perkins (Balgonie).

There are three speed skaters representing the southeast at the games. They are Donnie Elder, Tyan Cherepuschak (Pilot Butte) and Ashton Kincaid (White City). They are coached by Peter Frombach (Regina).

There will be 10 athletes from the southeast on the synchronized swimming team, all from Weyburn and Estevan. The Weyburn simmers are Marley Kradovill, Alexis Vandermey, Savannah Pohl, and Megan Dammann. The swimmers from Estevan are Hannah Mantei, Nyla Dyck, Caitlin Graham, Markie Weinrauch, Haley Copeland and Gemma Bittman. They are coached by Weyburn’s Kimberley Neithercut and Estevan’s Brenda Lyons.

The judo team for the southeast will have five participating. Joey Irwin (Kronau) and Astton Debruyne (Montmartre) are the two male athletes, while the three female athletes are Paige Irwin (Kronau), Trysten Reder (Sedley) and Christina Stringer (Montmartre). The teams are coached by Tristin Hoffarth (Sedley) and Monique Kreklewich (Sedley).

The Carlyle region is well-represented on the weightlifting team. The female athletes are Taris Rae, Jorja Bendtsen, Kendra Schulz and Karli Colpitts, all from Carlyle. The male athletes are Aaron Chapman and Tyler Colpitts (Carlyle) and Nathan Bertram (White City). The coaches for the team are Carson Brady and Mackenzie Craig, both from Carlyle.

In curling, Weyburn will be sending representatives for both the male and female competitions. Landon Field, Hunter Labbie, Keegan Woodard and Gregg Wiens, coached by Kim Wiens, will curl in the male competition. The female curlers are Emily Haupstein, Shayla Moore, Emma Wiens and Abbey Johnson, coached by Danette Tracey.

There are a total of 14 athletes from the Southeast participating in the bowling competition. On the male side, Tyson Andrews, AJ Donald, Jaxon Cook and Kelsey Peterson (Weyburn) will be joined by Caden Trafford (Oxbow). They are coached by Jed Lanz-McIntyre. The female team consists of Chanel Lanz-McIntyre (Weyburn), Laci Glennie, Hudson Walker and Rayna Stadnick (Carnduff), and Alisa Paul (Carievale). They are coached by Tasha Lanz-McIntyre. The Special Olympics bowling team is all from Weyburn. The athletes are David Carr, Brenda Zaharia, Ariel Roberts and Brendan Gall. They are coached by Brad Churko and Jo-Ann Paxman.

The female hockey team has representation from across the region. The complete lineup is Kira Barham and Dakota Bowler (Weyburn), Karleigh Mackenzie, Bailey Farr and Kayla Wanner (Estevan), Brynn MacLean and Keara Merriman (Wilcox), Kyla Bear and Jordyn Bear (Whitewood/Ochapowace), Taylor Kiel and Alexis Petford (Balgonie), Marieve Elliott (Kipling), Payton Schlamp (McLean), Starla Bann (Carievale), Sydney Pedersen (Milestone), Kate Pirlot (Wauchope), Molly Flynn (White City), Megan Hayhurst (Wapella), Ava Metzger (Moosomin), Dalis Prawdzik (Midale), and Kelsey Carson (Lampman). They are coached by Chad Kish (Weyburn), Jenica Whitrow (Yellow Grass) and Brad Robinson (Estevan).

There will be seven figure skaters representing the region. Addison Klapak and Jamie Labbie (Weyburn), Marissa Smith (Rocanville), Tennessee Goodbrand (Broadview), Carly Paton (Carnduff), Maggie Borschowa (McTaggart) and Kelsey Carson (Lampman). Their coaches are Sheena Goodbrand (Broadview) and Erica Focht (Sintaluta).

For table tennis, there are a total of eight athletes and two coaches. On the male side, all from Carry-The-Kettle, are Carson Aisaican, Cain Thomson, Nicholas Rollinmud and Cortez Rope. They are coached by Derek Mercer from Regina. For the female side, Krystal Prettyshield and Aleshia Deegan (Carry-The--Kettle) along with Bernadette Pangan and Jean Rose Jollie Be (Estevan) will be coached by Lindsay Collins (Estevan).

The rosters for the wrestling, snowboarding, badminton, alpine skiing and biathlon teams will be announced at a later date.

The mission staff for Team Southeast for the Saskatchewan Winter Games includes Joni Hagen, Kathy Erickson, Bob King, Tanya Pohl and Clayton Schira (Weyburn), Tara-Leigh Heslip and Lisa Stewart (Indian Head), Vickie Procyk (Fillmore), Rick Ricard (Radville) and Sandra Brown (Montmartre). The mission staff is a group of volunteers who are responsible for the management, operation and administration of the team prior to, and during, the games.

There will be a pep rally at McKenna Hall in Weyburn on February 11th to send the athletes and mission staff off to the games.
