The Touch a Truck event is coming up on Wednesday at the parking lot adjacent to Barber Motors.

The event allows children and adults to get an up close and personal experience with emergency vehicles and the people who operate them.

"There will be lots of large vehicles, not just trucks," Danielle Koeslag Program coordinator at the Family Place said. "There will be tractors, a grater, an ambulance, and firetrucks."

This would be a great learning experience for kids and even adults! To top it off there will even be a barbeque for all to indulge in.

"We have decided that because we got some donations that the hot dogs won't be costing anything, but there will be a donation jar there."

This event will be set up right across from Boston Pizza, where the Barber Motors empty parking lot is, and will be running from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

But where exactly did this idea come from?

"We did tour another center and they had some great ideas, when we were collaborating at the Family Place, we came up with this event, looking at some of the other successful events that Moose Jaw and North Battleford and such had put on, so we decided to put our own little spin onto a Touch a Truck event."

They contacted many different places to participate with their equipment and were not turned down once.

"Anybody can come down and look at the trucks touch the trucks meet the people that drive the trucks and ask questions!"

There will also be a gentleman by the name of Bob doing some arm painting for the kids. He used to face paint but moved to arm painting during COVID.

"There will be some giveaways as well maybe some coloring pages and such."

Come on down tomorrow to the empty parking lot by Barber Motors and learn something new even indulge in a barbeque!
