The U18 AA John Hulbert Construction Wings were at home Saturday afternoon, playing host to the Moose Jaw Warriors. The Wings would score in the second and third periods to pick up a 4-2 victory on home ice.

Weyburn opened up the scoring early in the first period when Donavin Mellon found the back of the net just 1:14 into the game. His game-opening goal was assisted by Greysen Goudy and Memphis Walter.

The lead would be opened up to 2-0 when Ty Boren scored at the 5:30 mark of the opening frame. His goal, which was on the power play, was assisted by Karter Haupstein and Ryker Watt.

The Warriors would respond just seconds later when Noah Osiowy managed to get the puck past Ryan Hicks to make it a 2-1 game. Then, at the 8:55 mark, Brennan Blatz scored on the power play to make it a 2-2 game.

The Wings restored the lead in the second period as Trent Benning would find the twine with 5:18 to play in the frame. His goal was assisted by Silas Stein and Watt. Then, Mellon notched his second of the game 4:27 into the third period to make it 4-2. Goudy had the helper on that goal.

The score could have been a lot higher for Weyburn, if not for the play of Moose Jaw goalie Landyn MacLachlan. He turned aside 52 of the 56 shots he faced in a losing effort. At the other end, Hicks was tested 30 times, stopping 28 of the shots.

The U18 AA Wings are back in action Sunday evening. They host the Yorkton Terriers at Crescent Point Place. The game starts at 7:00 p.m.
