The winners will be announced virtually this Friday night for the James Weir Peoples Choice awards. The three artists whose works received the most votes during the voting period, which ended Friday, will be presented with trophies.

However, throughout the rest of this week, the exhibition remains on display in the Weyburn Gallery at the Credit Union Spark Centre, with artists names included next to their works.

"They can come into the gallery anytime we're open more open as soon as the credit union Spark Centre is open," said Arts Coordinator and City Curator Regan Lanning.

"So if you had your absolute favourite pieces, now you can come in and see who did them," she noted.

"There were 17 works submitted that were eligible to be voted for," shared Lanning. "Speedy Auto Glass has once again furnished us with some beautiful custom made trophies just for us and also the 1st place winners name will be added to the James Weir Peoples Choice trophy. It's like the Stanley Cup of Weyburn arts, it doesn't live with the winner, it stays with the organization."

She said first, second, and third place winners will also get paid exhibition spaces at the the satellite gallery at the Weyburn Credit Union.

This year, Lanning said they did in-person tours again this year.

"Well over 900 students came through the tour with me this year, and there were also two public tours that were offered the first Tuesday of February and March, that people were invited to come and stop in, and I will actually continue straight through the whole year the first or second Tuesday of the month will be a talking tour that is open to the public and free to attend."

She added as Curator, she is able to provide a little bit more background on the work, and provide context or clues as to what the artist had intended with the works.
