Financials, the election of officers, and the Neal Keefe Volunteer Award presentation were all items on the agenda at the Weyburn Ag Society’s Annual General Meeting. There were 18 attendees at the meeting on December 14th, including President Kent Fisher, and vice-presidents Tyler Metheral and Jeff Clay.

In M&P’s financial report it was stated that the Weyburn Ag Society had a net profit of $77,847.16, which is an increase after running in a deficit last year. The organization was unable to hold any of their activities for an entire year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Looking ahead to next year, the fair is set to run from July 3rd to the 10th, 2022.

The Neal Keefe Volunteer Award went to the Kent Fisher family this year. The family had worked hard at maintaining the fairgrounds over the past year. Honourable mentions will go to Jeff Clay, Melissa Carson, Mike and Carla Fellner and Marla Holdstock.

The organization had an election of officers at their AGM. Levi Paradis accepted the nomination for commercial and concession, Jaime Wawro accepted the finance committee position, and Jodi Long accepted the nomination for the horse committee. Several people were re-elected, like Marla Holdstock for the farrier competition, Bev Gordon for the 4-H Canada Beef Committee, and Jeff Clay for advertising.

There are vacant positions that haven’t been filled, such as directors for the ag safety committee, and the policing and parking committees. Anyone interested in joining can contact the Weyburn Ag Society office at (306) 842-4052.
