The SERVE mission trip with close to 300 youth and their leaders from all over Western Canada held a very successful food drive all over Weyburn and the surrounding areas!

The team of mostly teens was hosted by the Calvary Baptist Church in Weyburn for the week and did many service jobs for your community.

On Thursday afternoon they all split into groups and went door-to-door asking the community for food donations to the Weyburn Salvation Army Food Bank.

In just a few hours the SERVE group brought in hundreds of pounds of food items to help restock the Food Bank.

"A total of 2300 pounds of food was brought in as well as $400 in cash donations," explained Jennifer Lorinczy, Community Ministries Coordinator for the Weyburn Salvation Army. "The 2300 pounds was just from the door-to-door collections, that doesn't include the food packaged by the SERVE youth and the Lifeline Christian Mission."

Many of the youth also helped to package close to 11,000 nutrient rich food packs for the local Salvation Army with the help of a group called Lifeline Christian Mission.

All-in-all the food drive was very helpful for Weyburn's Salvation Army and because of it the Food Bank will be able to help out countless more individuals in our area.
