The Weyburn Arts Council had its Annual General Meeting virtually last night over Zoom.

Some changes coming to the council were announced, including some new directors, and some members stepping down. Lois Adams stepped down from her position as Treasurer, and Director Tana Torkelson stepped down.

Natasha Hill also stepped down from her position as Chair.

“My stepping down from my position as Chair is purely an administrative move because as was indicated in our policies and procedures at our last AGM, we have implemented two-year positions for our executive, and with Lois stepping back, this will reset the position for the Chair to a two-year term in tandem with the Treasurer position.”

It was decided at the meeting that Hill would continue her position as Chair, as no other members indicated an interest in assuming the position.

Two members, Heather Ganuelas and Stephanie Lang, stepped up to become directors at the meeting.

The Weyburn Arts Council is still seeking directors and members.

“The main difference between a member and a director is simply that members aren't required to come to every meeting,” said Curator and Arts Coordinator Regan Lanning. “We love it when you do, but you don't have to. Members get the minutes, but they don't actually have to have actionable items in those minutes, whereas for the directors we do require you to come to meetings and you also have a vote in those meetings.”

In the Annual Report from the Secretary, it was stated that the highlight of this past year has been the opening of the Credit Union Spark Centre, a facility that allows a working relationship between the arts and sports.

The Financial Report went over the successful fundraising events and the Summer and Winter Gifted curated markets. Another notable item was the completion of the Mural contest project that was postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic. Funding for the completion of the mural project was received from the Weyburn Credit Union as well as grants received from OSAC.

The Community Builder opening balance was $2,750, and the closing balance was $7,695.

The Premium Investment opening balance was $11,487, and the closing balance was $11,492.

The Millie Coghill Premium Investment opening balance was $4,752, and the closing balance was $3,739.

The opening balance of a share was $5.00, and the closing balance is $5.00.
