A busy agenda for Weyburn City Council at tonight's lone meeting for December will include the final approval for the 2024 City of Weyburn budget. Read more HERE.

Council will be hearing reports from various departments, including finance, the Water Treatment Plant, Public Works, and the building department.

A new licensed building official will be up for approval, Patrick Grunert, and there will be discussion and likely approval for an amendment to the Official Community Plan in relation to a business changing its land use designation.

Council will also approve the 2024 boards and committee delegates, as well as set the dates for the 2024 Council meetings.

A letter of non-opposition will be read and likely approved, which is to be sent to Transport Canada before a Heliport can be approved for the future new Weyburn hospital.

The heliport will be used only for medical purposes (EMS air ambulance service provided by STARS) and will not be used for non-hospital or non-medical purposes. Most patient transfers will be from the Weyburn General Hospital to the Regina General Hospital; however, the heliport could receive patients from the scene and call emergencies within the Hospital Service area.

The estimated number of flights is approximately 16 trips a year.

The anticipated completion date for the new Weyburn General Hospital is late 2026.
