The City of Weyburn announced a big change in management today.

In a mutually agreed upon decision between the City Manager and Council, it was determined that City Manager Roy Hardy will not be continuing his administrative role effective immediately.

"We have had some very effective strategies that were developed over the last year and a half and then it just came down to a basic differentiation in the implementation of these strategies and different ideologies as to how this was going to be achieved," said Mayor Marcel Roy during an interview with Discover Weyburn News.

Director of Leisure Services Mathew Warren has accepted the position of interim City Manager. Warren has been with the city for nine years and said he is looking forward to the new duties.

Weyburn City Council wanted to let the community know that they are confident in the direction the City is moving, issuing a press release Friday afternoon.

"As a Council, we are committed to continuing to build our city and ensuring we remain sustainable,” commented Mayor Roy in the issued statement.

Hardy became Weyburn's City Manager on August 14, 2017. He left the same position with the City of Humboldt to join Weyburn's City administration team.
