This past weekend the Weyburn Humane Society had a successful bake sale, bringing in over $600.

The bake sale was held at Expressions Ladies Wear on Saturday.

The money raised is going towards various expenses that the Humane Society faces.

“We are doing spays and neuters on the animals, we're getting them vaccinated and we're making sure that all the health problems are taken care of before they go to their forever home,” said Karie Ruckaber, Fundraising Chair for the Weyburn Humane Society. “A lot of cost is involved in taking care of the animals and everything that you guys bring in, and your day-to-day operations, like we do have to pay for our utilities and for the water.”

Ruckaber said that the Humane Society wouldn’t have been able to have this bake sale without the volunteers who bring the baking.

“We've got a really wonderful volunteer base that when we do want to run a bake sale, they go all out with the treats.”

To top it off, Domestic Caker and the Rolling Pin Bakery donated a cake and cupcakes for a raffle.

“Along with our bake sale that we had, we also sold raffle tickets. There was two sets of six cupcakes and then there's gorgeous cake from the rolling pin.”

Ruckaber is thankful for the support from the community.
