An incident at a local establishment last week ended with one woman being arrested, and facing potentially serious charges.

Officers were called to the scene after a report of an incident involving two women. Deputy Police Chief with the Weyburn Police Service, Brent vanDeSype, explained one woman had assaulted another, and the situation escalated.

“The assaultive female went to leave the scene, and she used her vehicle in an aggressive nature against the other one and was ultimately charged for assault as well as assault with a weapon,” the deputy chief said. He added aggressive driving would be described as driving towards someone, or threatening to drive towards them and then swerving away.

The incident was one of 85 calls for service for the Weyburn Police Service in the week ending July 30th. Of those 85 calls, there were 15 charges, including 10 under the Criminal Code.
