The Weyburn Therapeutic Animal Park is rolling with momentum from a few exciting projects, including the new bunny hutches built by students of Weyburn Comprehensive School.

The WTAP board will be selling cotton candy today at the Gifted Summer Art Market, and has plans for some new signage thanks to a Community Fund Grant from the Weyburn Credit Union.

"There are currently seven people on our board, so a small board still, but we are managing and we are always open to having new members too," shared Secretary-Treasurer Janel Stang. "If anybody has new ideas or just an extra hand to help, we could really use that as well."

"We have had so many people comment on our Bunny hutches built by the Comp students. They are just fantastic. The Bunnies are a lot happier and, it's just wonderful," she commented.

Stang said the old metal cage is still standing for now, but the plan is to remove it before too long.

"We'll redesign that space, maybe with a gazebo or a Learning Centre of some kind, or something that we could use and everybody could use when they visit the park."

As for further funding to develop the space, Stang said their board president Kirstie Frayne is always keeping a lookout for funding opportunities for which they would be eligible.

"It's been fantastic. We are still waiting to hear on a couple more grants to help improve the park, but we won't hear about those yet."

The WTAP is also planning a Market at the Park on August 4th. Check back here for more details.
