The Weyburn Travel Club recently returned from a 10-day Easter tour that took place from April 6th to 15th, and it was very exciting for the travellers.

Visiting London, the Normandy region of France, as well as Paris, the group of 30 local travellers and 21 parents had an unforgettable experience.

Andrea Kerr, Co-Founder of the Weyburn Travel Club, said that they started in London and were there for about a day and a half to two days.

"Then we we took a ferry across from Portsmouth, England over to Caen, France. Then we were in the Normandy region looking at different historical sites that were linked to D-Day. We went to Juno Beach and we visited the Juno Beach Centre, and we went to the Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery, we visited The Pointe Du Hoc, which is the US militaries' facility for their contribution at Omaha Beach."

"From there, we spent a day at Mont-Saint-Michel and Saint-Malo, which is on the coast, of course, all kind of on the coast. We saw a monastery that was at Mont-Saint-Michel which was quite beautiful and we went and visited this medieval walled city of Saint-Malo. From there, we made our way to Paris, where we spent three days in Paris and we took in the sights of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Versailles, the Arc de Triomphe, " Kerr said.

Kerr shared that they went up the Eiffel Tower which was quite exciting for the group.

"We were excited to be able to go after a five-year hiatus, we hadn't travelled since 2018 because of the pandemic. Just being able to give that opportunity for kids and their parents to be able to experience something that they might not typically do. Taking care of a lot of those extra details ... I think it's just really eye-opening for a lot of our travellers for some things that they have never seen before."

Kerr added that they just rolled out a 2025 Easter tour for Italy and Greece, where they will be visiting Athens and then up to Rome.

"Students are able to enroll online through the EF tours website and of course if they ever have any questions or concerns or need more information they can always contact me through our weyburntravelclub@yahoo.ca e-mail. We want to try to fill it with as many students that are wanting to go."
