A local family has been left devastated after a fire broke out in their home on Barber Crescent Tuesday night and to make an unfortunate circumstance worse, the family has no tenant insurance.

When leaving work on Tuesday night, a family friend, Trina Lechance noticed the fire.

“I was actually leaving work, and I was on the deck at Pump Jacks when I saw the fire and I thought, Oh, my goodness, that's looking like it's really close to her house. I didn't hear any emergency vehicles yet, so I started walking over there to check it out. And then I heard the sirens start to come and saw that it was her place. So, they moved out. They were on the street by the car and yeah, they were both pretty devastated, obviously. But, you know, happy that everyone's safe, “said, Trina.

Trina immediately got to work and set up a GoFundMe account for Tatiana Barrera Sanchez and Teagan Montreuil who have two children, Tristen, 7, and Athena, 3.

“I just want to say thank you to all the emergency crews, and to anyone that has helped out or donated or done anything in any way,” added Trina. “The GoFundMe will be posted on my own personal page.  Also, if anyone would like to drop off donations in person, we will be accepting donations at Pump Jacks.”

In the meantime, Victim Services provided the family with a three-night stay in a hotel room. The family is currently looking for a new place to live.

Those wishing to help can donate to the GoFundMe account or drop off donations at Pump Jacks, etransfer is also available at the Spanish email address tbarrera@hotmail.es.
