The heatwave in Saskatchewan entered its fourth day this morning, with the heat warning still in effect. Since Sunday afternoon, daytime highs have been blistering, and the overnight lows uncomfortable.

The hottest day in Weyburn so far during this heatwave was on Monday when the mercury climbed to 36.2°. While it felt like it might have been record-breaking, it was short of the official record, according to Environment Canada. That record is 42.5°, set back in 2007.

Weyburn did come close to setting a record yesterday, though. The official mark for the hottest July 25th on record is 35.0°, set back in 1975. The warmest temperature we reached was 34.9°, at 4:00 p.m., just a tenth of a degree from the new mark.

One record that was set was yesterday, and it involved the overnight low. The lowest the mercury fell yesterday was 20.3°, around 5:00 a.m.

The heat is expected to stick around for a few more days, although there is the possibility the heat warning is lifted as overnight lows are expected to fall below 16° as early as tonight. For those who are looking for some much-needed precipitation, there is a chance of rain starting tomorrow night and going through the weekend, according to the current forecasts.
