A job fair will be held this Wednesday afternoon for anyone interested in obtaining employment or contributing to the construction project for the new Weyburn hospital.

Chris Doka is the Chief Operating Officer of Wright Construction Western Inc.

"We're really hopeful that individuals will come down who want to work on the project, bring their resumes and their qualifications and experience," he invited. "We're also looking for local businesses to come and share with us what they're able to contribute and provide that can go into the project."

Noting that they really hope to see everybody down there, and he shared why they do events like this.

"Wright Construction does a lot of work in rural communities throughout the province, and we've always been a big proponent of keeping projects local to the province on a whole," he commented. "We think it's important that we translate that down to the local communities that we work in."

He said they've had great success with this in the past.

"We just find a lot of people, personally and their businesses, have typically contributed to getting these projects off the ground, to begin with," he shared. "So we think it's really important to give them an opportunity to be able to participate in the project once it is up and running, so whether that be themselves working on the project or having their business participate."

"Obviously there's a benefit for us there that workers that work local and are there right in the community, but you do always get a kind of a sense of pride from the people that we do hire locally that actually get to work on the project and businesses that get to participate as well."

He said this can provide employment in our community throughout the duration of the hospital project, which will take two years to complete.

The job fair will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16th, in the small gym at the Weyburn Credit Union Spark Centre. The Spark Centre, Doka added, also built by Wright Construction, was, 'another great experience' for them in Weyburn.
