Two youths received a warning after reporting to Weyburn police that another youth had pulled a knife on them last Wednesday.

Deputy Police Chief Brent VanDeSype said the investigation into the matter revealed the report was unfounded.

“It was a false allegation which was discovered with some investigation,” he said. “It's quite a serious consequence making a false allegation like that, so they were warned quite seriously of what the consequences could have been and in.”

VanDeSype said making false allegations could lead to charges under the Criminal Code.

“I believe there was a little bit of a dispute going on between the youths that reported this and the individuals that they made the claim against.”

The youths were warned of the consequences of making false reports, and not charged.
