The Midget AAA Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings played host to the Battlefords Sharks on the weekend for their home opener. The Gold Wings were looking for their first league win of the season in the matchups, after seeing success in Manitoba over the holiday weekend. It would be the Sharks who spoiled the party, though, as they held Weyburn off the scoreboard all weekend long.

The first game was Saturday afternoon at Crescent Point Place. The Sharks came out firing in the game, which saw the two teams combine for 19 power players. The Sharks scored twice in the first, and two more times in the second to take the game by a score of 4-0.

In the matchup Sunday afternoon, things were just as tense, with 17 power plays handed out between the two teams. The score would come up the same, as the Battlefords won 4-0.

The Gold Wings will look to turn things around this coming Saturday. They play host to the Saskatoon Stars at Crescent Point Place for the first of two games on the weekend.
