The Pee Wee AA Young Fellow Wings let the opponent score first in both games this weekend, but then turned things around in a hurry, as they routed the Moose Jaw Pee Wee Warriors Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday morning, the two teams met at Crescent Point Place. Moose Jaw opened the scoring just over three minutes into the game. Weyburn would respond with a vengeance.

A streak of six goals that spanned less than 20 minutes over two periods helped the Wings to a 10-2 victory. The run was started by Carter Skarbon, with just over five minutes left in the first period. He was assisted by Ty Mason and Quinn Mantei. Van Eger didn’t wait long to put the Wings in front, as he scored just nine seconds later, assisted by Chareuh Englot. Wyatt Lacoste rounded out the scoring for the first period with 28 seconds remaining in the frame, with Blaze Gutzke getting the helper.

Mason would open the scoring in the second period, just before the halfway mark, with Mantei getting his second assist of the game. Mantei finished the day with three goals and three assists.

Just 33 seconds later, the scoring continued as Skarbon notched his second of the game, with Conner Kerr getting the assist. Blaze Gutzke would finish off the run for the Wings with a goal at the 12:59 mark, assisted by Samuel Borschowa.

Moose Jaw would add a goal before the end of the period, but Weyburn then continued to put up the scores at a rapid pace. Mantei scored his first of three on the day before the period was over. Van Eger then scored to open the scoring in third, and Mantei scored unassisted 31 seconds later. Moose Jaw would score once more before the end of the period before Mantei completed the hat trick with a power-play goal assisted by Kerr.

Sunday, the two teams met again at Crescent Point Place. Once again, Moose Jaw scored the first goal, before Weyburn took over the game, skating to a 5-2 final.

Gutzke responded for Weyburn with just under two minutes remaining in the opening period. Mason then scored a power-play goal with 1:25 remaining, giving Weyburn the lead.

Through most of the second period, neither team was able to solve the goaltenders, until there were just 49 seconds remaining. Moose Jaw would tie the game up with a power-play goal.

Weyburn came out with a mission in mind to start the third. Lacoste scored a powerplay marker at the 5:56 mark, assisted by Gutzke. Mason and Eger then scored unassisted to complete the scoring for the period.

The next league action for the Pee Wee AA Wings is this coming weekend. They host the Melville Pee Wee Millionaires for a pair of games.
