Northland College in Wisconsin is quickly becoming the preferred place for Weyburn hockey players to attend to continue their on-ice careers.

The latest commitment to the Northland Lumberjacks hockey program is defenseman Tristan Petrie. The 21-year-old, originally from Lloydminster, spent 1 ½ seasons with the Weyburn Red Wings, dressing for 83 games. He picked up 10 assists in that span, while also collecting 143 penalty minutes.

Petrie will be joining former Red Wings Tyran Brown, Cole Woodliffe and Jacob Jeske at Northland.

The Northland women’s hockey program has also recently seen Midget AAA Gold Wings Sierra Meroniuk and Mahteya Dumelie commit to the school for next season.
