Despite extremely windy conditions Wednesday afternoons, athletes from across the Southeast were in Weyburn for the Southeast District Athletic Association District track meet. The top two finishers in the Junior and Senior competitions advance to the provincials, which are scheduled for June 2nd and 3rd in Saskatoon.

The weather conditions didn’t stop a number of records from being set at the event.

Alex Lund set a new Bantam Boys mark in the shot put, with a 12.65m throw. Jamie Labbie from St. Mike’s set a new mark of 4.76m in the Bantam Girls long jump.

Chris Lonseth from Rocanville reached new heights in the Midget Boys high jump, with a leap of 1.80m. Runners from Moosomin helped power that school to some new marks in Junior Boys competition. Quincy Telus ran the 400m in a time of 53.93s, while the 4x100 relay team set a new mark with a time of 47.75s.

In the Senior Boys division, Paul Dionne from the Weyburn Comp set a new record with a long jump of 7.76m. Austin Lund continued his attack on the record books, with a shot put of 15.26m.
