It was a night the Weyburn Red Wings would like to forget. On Radio Night at Crescent Point Place the Wings were hoping to snap out of their four-game losing streak but the Nipawin Hawks had other plans. A great road performance by the Hawks carried them to a 4–0 win.

Nipawin goaltender Declan Hobbs was the difference maker, recording his second shutout of the season. He made numerous huge saves to keep the Red Wings off the board, and one stop especially sticks out in the third period. Carson Scheschuk snuck backdoor on the powerplay, took a pass and had a wide open net to shoot at — but out of no where Hobbs stuck out the left pad to deny Scheschuk a sure goal.

That play alone summed up the whole night, as the Red Wings generated chances but were unable to solve arguably the league's top goalie. Cody Levesque was no slouch either in the Red WIngs netmaking 26 saves, but a couple of great efforts by the Hawks and some bad bounces were the difference on this night.

Austen Flaman helped Nipawin draw first blood with a powerplay goal in the opening frame. He centered the puck from the corner, but a redirection off a Red Wings defenceman and in would turn out to be the game-winner. Jeremy Bissona and Gage Misskey would add to the lead in the second and Brodie Girod capped it off with an empty-netter, as the Wings fell on home ice for the third straight game.

It was a disappointing result for the first ever Red Wings broadcast on BIG 106. Despite the outcome, there was plenty of fun to be had at the rink celebrating the momentous occasion and the BIG106 blog page will have plenty of photos and videos on Monday.

Meanwhile for the Wings, they won't have long to dwell on this loss. The Melfort Mustangs will be in town tonight for the first meeting of the season between these two teams. Game time is set for 7:30 at Crescent Point Place, where the boys in red will try to get back in the win column.
