The Weyburn Red Wings had their rookies on display last night, as they played host to the Notre Dame Hounds in SJHL preseason action. The rookies threw everything they had at the Hounds, but the lineup with a veteran presence were the ones to come out on top, as Notre Dame skated to a 3-1 victory.

Kyle Robinson got the puck past Cody Levesque during a scramble in the goalmouth. The assists on the goal went to Keaton Sorenson and Tanner Tarbell. The Red Wings bounced back to tie the game up early in the second, though.

Sven Schefer, signed by Weyburn in the off-season, scored his first of the preseason. Defenseman Carey Levesque was credited with the lone assist on the goal.

The Hounds took the lead in the third period when Marshall Wilton scored. The 20-year-old forward, who is entering his third season of Junior A hockey, was assisted on the goal by Noah Bankowski. The Hounds rounded out the scoring with a goal from Tarbell. He was assisted on the goal by Sorenson and Christopher Bernard.

The Red Wings will now get ready for their next preseason game. They travel to Wilcox to face the Hounds tonight. The next home game for Weyburn will be Friday when they host the Estevan Bruins.
