The STARS Choir of Weyburn Comprehensive School has won a competition for the chance of a lifetime.

"We were in the top three and then we were selected as the winner, so the STARS Choir of Weyburn will be performing on stage with Foreigner in their concert," explained Jillian Harder, STARS Choir member who is overjoyed with the news.

"So excited. The STARS choir, when we found out we made the top three finalists we were so pumped. So you can imagine our reaction when we won. Pretty awesome."

Colleen Weimer, Choir Teacher of STARS shares the excitement.

"It feels awesome, it's very exciting. It was sort of a shot in the dark. We just thought we'd throw our name in the bucket, throw our video in."

"We got chosen as one of the top three and then after voting, we found out we won the competition, we're just really, really excited."

Weimer explained how a few people had emailed her from the community to ask if she had seen the details about the competition and then some of the students did too.

"We looked into it and thought let's give it a try."

The students did the editing and made the video which went on to win. The song choice was "I Want To Know What Love Is," a number one hit for Foreigner in 1984, around 15+ years before the birth of any of students in the choir.

"I would like to thank the community for their support. This came down to voting and I know one of the reasons we ended up winning the contest was because of our great support from our awesome community." expressed Weimer.

The concert is at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina on Monday, October 16th as part of the Foreigner 40th Anniversary tour across Canada.
