Saskatchewan has been seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases in the past week. While the cases were down into the single digits for a short period, several outbreaks in the Southwest and West-Central regions have brought those numbers back into the triple digits. This increase in cases has man communities preparing for outbreaks, including Weyburn.

"We've always followed along with provincial protocol and will continue going forth until its determined there is need of action," said Mayor Marcel Roy.

Roy says in accordance with the provincial guidelines put in place, the city is prepared in the event there is an outbreak of COVID-19 cases.

"Our city workers are all back to work," Roy added. "Now we're just waiting to see what the next directive will be."

He says the City will continue to follow these guidelines that are supplied by the provincial government and will avoid going above and beyond. Roy says they will continue following the standard as it has worked thus far.

With the increase in cases and risk of spread, it is important to remember the health and safety guidelines which include social distancing, frequently washing one's hands, and wearing a mask when out in public if possible.
