Weyburn's Jean Fahlman believes all women should be recognized.

Nominations are now open to recognize the contributions of women to the Weyburn and district community.

The categories for the 2017 awards include:

  • Credit Union Workplace Excellence Award - Presented to a woman who supports the diverse needs of the workplace. She is a role model in the best workplace practises through innovation, progressiveness, support of advancement and professional development, mentorship and promoting healthy lifestyles.
  • M. Isabelle Butters Quota International of Weyburn Community Service Award - Presented to a woman who volunteers unpaid, mentors and inspires others through involvement in the community. She shows dedication to her community, education, alleviating social inequalities and strengthening volunteer participation.
  • Access Communications Exceptional Entrepreneur Award - Presented to a woman who has successfully launched a business, product or service and who remains active in the business. She possesses exceptional leadership, creativity and ingenuity with innovative approaches to problem solving, filling needs or breaking into a new market.
  • Hoffman, Michel & Associates Private Wealth Management Young Woman of Distinction Award - Presented to an exceptional young woman between the ages of 18-30 who has made a significant contribution to the life of her community. She has demonstrated leadership, inspired peers, shown maturity, perseverance, innovation and compassion.

Nomination forms are available here on DiscoverWeyburn.com or at Prairie Sky Co-op Expressions in the Metro Centre and can be dropped off at Dr. Cheryl Roundy's office (20 4th St.).

The deadline for nominations is March 10.

A tea for all the women nominated is to be held on March 26.

The Women of the Year awards luncheon will be held April 11.
