It was a quiet week for the Weyburn Police Service, even with the first week of school.

Deputy Chief Rod Stafford said the police service didn't receive a single complaint in regards to the school zones.

"So, both the pedestrians, the kids and adults, and the drivers need to be commended for that," stated Stafford. "I think everybody was well aware that it was the first week of school so everybody may be a little extra cautious with the press that went out but we're very pleased nonetheless."

Drivers outside the city were not as careful. A near head-on collision Friday afternoon has police searching for the truck and driver of a white Dodge truck. The incident happened at 3 p.m. just south of the city on Highway 35. The truck had dark, tinted windows. Stafford said they are seeking any information on the incident as the driver's actions were "very dangerous".

Another incident reported by police involved the passenger of a taxi refusing to pay for their ride. Stafford said these incidents are usually worked out when police approach the uncooperative passenger and they agree to pay, but cab companies wishing to pursue the matter could have the unwilling passenger charged with fraud.
