With the Federal Election coming up soon the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce has announced that they will be hosting an All-Candidates Forum for the riding of Souris Moose Mountain.

The Chamber’s purpose in providing this forum is to facilitate a respectful dialogue between candidates and those in attendance. This is not considered an atmosphere for debate. Candidates will not be given an opportunity to debate issues with their fellow candidates or those in attendance. They will be simply responding to the questions posed to them within a given time frame. Each candidate will have a brief opportunity to introduce himself or herself at the start of the forum as well as provide concluding remarks at the end of the event.

"Every election the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce takes the opportunity to host an All-Candidates Forum and we invite questions from our membership ahead of time and as the date gets closer we'll even arrange to have questions sent in the night of," explained Larry Heggs, Executive Director for the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce.

Anyone interested in sending in any questions can send an email to the Chamber HERE.

The event will be held at the Ramada Hotel at 1420 Sims Ave SW in Weyburn on September 9th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Everyone is welcome to attend but space will be limited so please give the Chamber a phone call ahead of time if possible at (306) 842-4738.

If you are unable to attend the live forum you can watch the All Candidates Forum on either AccessNow TV or the AccessNow TV app on the following dates: Saturday, September 11 at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, September 15 at 7:00 pm, or Saturday, September 18 at 1:00 pm.

"It's very important for us to be a part of this because the electoral process and the impact that it has on our members and Weyburn at large can not be undersold," Heggs expressed. "Just for the opportunity for us to do that is just one of the services that we provide as a Chamber for the general public to just try to educate so everyone has an informed decision."

Heggs added that if anyone plans to attend they should try to be there by 6:30 to 6:45 pm if possible to ensure that they can have a seat for the event.
