There was a fundraiser on Sunday at Weyburn's City Centre Mall to help raise funds for the Cornish Family.

Nolan was born with Down Syndrome and a hole in the heart, which doctors performed surgery on two weeks ago.

The fundraiser was organized by Sandy and Joel Johnson.

"Sandy approached us shortly before we got our date for surgery and she said that this is something that she and Joel wanted to do and she wasn't going to take no for an answer," explained Kevin Cornish, Father of Nolan.

The total amount on Sunday raised so far is $2600

The Cornish Family are staying at the Ronald Mcdonald House in Edmonton and say they have been blessed during their stay and with all the support from friends and family.

"Through this whole process, we've been very humbled and overwhelmed and loved so its a mixture of all those feelings. That people care about us and our son. The biggest one is feeling thankful and blessed."

The Cornish's have yet to total up how much everything is costing them being away in Edmonton but they feel challenged to pay it forward too.

"Especially at this time of year when you see so much need around."

"We've seen so many families through being in the hospital going through similar struggles without the family support."

"Crystal and I are in awe of how we have been taken care of and we know that our faith, we just see it as God providing and taking care of us."

"Thank you doesn't feel like a strong enough word to say but thank you."

Kevin also said thank you to his Nickle Lake slow pitch league including his team The Kool-aids who raised $800 and $670 raised from his ball team, Century 21 Wild.

"Nolan continues to put us on a roller coaster ride. The heart surgery went very well, they are happy with that. The main issue now is breathing."

Last week, the hospital staff tried to take Nolan off the respirator which is breathing for him and they nearly lost him. Doctors and nurses were able to bring him back and they are trying again this week.

The Edmonton Oilers went to the Ronald Mcdonald house where the Cornish's are staying and played some hockey with Nolans older brother, Nathan.

The Cornish family will be staying in Edmonton over Christmas.

A Gofundme page has also been set up for the Cornish family, which can be found here.
