Mayor Marcel Roy says Williams will be helping as director of engineering for the City of Weyburn during the interim, as engineer Sean Abram has taken a new position in Ontario and his last day was Friday.

"All we've done is we've brought in Mr. Williams so that our engineering is being turned over seamlessly," Roy said.

Currently, the City of Weyburn is seeking a new city manager as former manager Bob Smith is now city manager for Warman.

But, a senior engineer and a city manager may not be all Weyburn needs.

Roy said the thought is to bring on both a junior and senior engineer, as the city's engineering department is now short on both positions.

The director of engineering position will soon become available on the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) website.

Abram's last day was Friday, and as Roy pointed out, work still needs to be done.

"Our water (reservoir) project is moving along actually at a very rapid rate here," he said, adding that the initial stage is going well on the $16 million project.

You may also remember the Walker Projects name.

They were the firm which worked on the $6.2 million restoration project for Weyburn's courthouse more than five years ago.
