The cold weather hasn’t been a deterrent for some ne’er-do-wells at Nickle Lake Regional Park. The staff has reported via social media someone has been rummaging through storage sheds at a number of seasonal sites.

Seasonal sites in East Camp, West Camp, as well as along Goranson Street and Sealey Drive have been affected the most. A number of doors have been broken, although park staff reports it appears to be plastic or tap-like structures which have been affected the most. The more secure ones were left alone.

It appears there was a lot of rummaging through the sheds, with the culprits making a mess of the belongings of a number of the campers.

Nickle Lake doesn’t have any surveillance at the park in the winter, with contents left over the season done so at the risk of the seasonal site owners. The gate is intended to be a deterrent, though, to prevent entry into the park during the winter months.

As of right now, no thefts have been reported, although once seasonal campers visit their sites, and take inventory of what was rummaged through, the situation may change.

Park staff has opened a file with the RCMP, and anyone with questions is asked to contact the park manager, Lisa Dennis for more information.
