The WYC Captivator Series, hosted by the Weyburn Youth Council, will be coming up this week. The two-day event will give students a chance to engage with leaders in the business and technology communities.

“We’re excited to host discussions with local mentors who will empower the next generation of leaders from the Weyburn Comprehensive School and inspire us to pursue our own paths to success,” said Youth Mayor Nikola Erasmus in a written release.

The first of the two panels will be held Wednesday from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m. and will focus on business and entrepreneurship. The panellists for the event will be the Chief Operating Officer of Weyburn Credit Union, Jeff Hayward, and the owner of Flawless Fitness and Root Hair Loung, Alyssa DeMarchi.

The second panel will be held Thursday from 3:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will have a focus on technology. The speakers for this panel are the Chief Technology Officer at Weyburn Credit Union, Ryan Janke, and the Vice President of Academic and Teaching & Learning at Southeast College, Dean Loberg.

“The Weyburn Youth Council is thrilled to offer this opportunity again to engage and captivate our peers,” said Erasmus. “We hope this event creates meaningful impact in our community.”

The two panels are free to attend and are tailored towards high school students from Weyburn Comprehensive School. Attendees will also have the chance to win door prizes, sponsored by Weyburn Credit Union.

This is the second Captivator Series hosted by the Weyburn Youth Council. The first was held in 2022 and featured WCS graduate Andrew Cretin and his business partner Kirk Morrison. They are behind the travel app Krugo.
