After coming off a Tier 2 provincial championship last weekend, the Carlyle Cardinals found themselves with a split result after the Western Canadian Baseball Championship.

They played four games of a round-robin in Oak River, Manitoba over the weekend.

They began with a 13-1 loss to the Oak River Dodgers on Friday, coming back later that day to beat the Parkland Twins 11-0.

They then got back on the mound Saturday afternoon to face off against the South Delta Brewers, winning 4-0.

Their round robin ended on Sunday with a loss of 14-0 against the Border All-Stars, for a record of 2 and 2.

The Border All-Stars would then go on to lose the gold medal game, being defeated by the hometown Oak River Dodgers 7-2.
