The City of Weyburn is accepting food donations for the Salvation Army. Donations will be accepted until Friday, December 17th at 12:00 p.m.

Abby Kradovill, Safety Coordinator with the City of Weyburn says the Salvation Army is low on all of their food supplies, but they especially need things like cereal, canned fruit, instant noodles, and pasta.

“We want to make sure that everyone has that opportunity to gather with their friends and family, regardless of their financial situation. So, we want to make sure that the food bank is well stocked and if we can help out with that, we're really excited to.”

Kradovill says the City has a long-standing history of supporting the food bank at Christmas time.

“Last year we did things a little differently and we just had an internal food drive and had a competition between all of our facilities, and we teamed up with some businesses around town and so they collected on our behalf as well.”

This year the food drive is opened to the public again, and people have an opportunity to drop off non-perishable food items to City Hall, Public Works or Fire Hall, Weyburn Leisure Centre, or the Credit Union Spark Centre.
