Those who like to get some their steps in by walking around town may want to avoid Fourth Street south for the next few weeks.

Sidewalk construction is scheduled for the north side (odd house numbers) of Fourth Avenue, between Third Street and Fourth Street.

While construction begins tomorrow, May 14th, the work is expected to last one week, and the curing process for the newly laid concrete will extend for an additional 14 days, to ensure its strength and durability for long-term use.

The City of Weyburn is asking residents in the area to park only on the south side of the street, as there will be no driveway access on the north side during the concrete construction period and curing period

"During the curing phase of the concrete, it is important residents refrain from driving or parking on the newly constructed sidewalks. While the surface may appear dry, the curing process is essential for ensuring the durability and longevity of the sidewalks," said Municipal Engineer Renée Cugnet.

The City of Weyburn asks all drivers and pedestrians to obey signage and exercise caution in the construction zone for the safety of everyone.
