The City of Weyburn is asking people to be mindful of crews who are working in the city’s greenspaces, parks and trails, and to allow them the room they need to finish their jobs.

“Our parks, public works and leisure staff are all outside during the summer months, and so we just really need the public to ensure they give them their workspace,” explained Paige Tenbult, the Communications Coordinator for the City of Weyburn.

Throughout the city, there are 175 hectares of space that is maintained by the City of Weyburn. This includes 65 hectares of irrigated greenspace, 37 hectares of non-irrigated greenspace and the Tatagwa Parkway trail system, which is another 73 hectares. The work to maintain these spaces goes on throughout the year, and staff want people to be able to use those spaces even if there is work happening.

“We really encourage parents to educate their children on this,” Tenbult added. “We know kids are out on their bikes all the time – it's summer time, they’re out of school, and we just want children, adults and all of our residents to be aware that the paths and the parks are our staff’s workspace.”
