Local non-profit community organizations operated by volunteers can apply for the Saskatchewan Lotteries Community Grant program through the City of Weyburn.

The Saskatchewan Lotteries Community Grant Program provides access to sport, culture and recreation activities for all Saskatchewan people, regardless of age, sex, ethnicity, economic status, physical or mental disabilities.

Terri Stadnek, Administrative Coordinator with Parks and Leisure for the City of Weyburn, said, "The City of Weyburn is fortunate to be a recipient from the partnership that includes and is guided by the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association, Sask Sport and Sask Culture Inc."

Any non-profit organization within the City of Weyburn can apply for this grant. The goal of the program is to get people involved in sport, culture and recreation activities.

The deadline to apply is March 10th, which is for program funding from April 1st, 2023, to March 31st, 2024.

Stadnek explained that once the association uses the funds in that time frame, they are able to complete their follow-up report and have it sent in no later than March 31st, 2024.

"The follow-up report needs to include their list of expenditures, verified with receipts, and then once that follow-up report is completed and approved by the City of Weyburn, the funds are distributed back to the association."

Typically in the program year, she said, "We see from 30 to 50 applications from non-profit organizations within the City. There's a selection committee that goes through and tries to give as many groups, if not all, a portion of the funds that we're able to get from the fund."

The program is funded by the Sask Sport Inc., Sask Culture Inc. and the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association Inc.

Stadnek said they really encourage everyone to go to the Parks and Leisure tab on the City of Weyburn website. People can find the Saskatchewan Lotteries Community Grant guidelines, as well as the grant application form there.
