Weyburn’s Graham DeLaet entered the clubhouse one stroke above the cutline at the Valspar Championship in Florida Friday morning. He shot an even-par 71 for the second day in a row, and was sitting nine strokes back of the leader.

DeLaet started his day off on the back nine, and was quick to notch a bogey, going over on the first hole of the day. He recovered quickly, as he birdied 11. A bogey on 16 and birdie on 18 kept him at even par, although he was flirting with dropping below the cutline for much of the day.

On the front nine, he notched a bogey on holes 4 and 9, but kept his score at par with birdies on 5 & 7. While his distance and accuracy were on point for much of the day, it would be his play on the green that caused him trouble for most of the morning. On He would need one or two extra putts on every hole he bogeyed on the day.

Meanwhile, Moose Jaw’s Adam Hadwin is on the course at the Valspar. He entered Friday’s second round in a tie for 11th, after shooting a 3-under 68 Thursday.

DeLaet will now be waiting to see how the rest of the field finishes, to see if he will be in the right spot Saturday to be able to play the third and fourth rounds of the weekend.
