Weyburn Comprehensive School students are busy rehearsing for their senior musical performances next week of the Broadway musical, 'the Wedding Singer'.

The show will run at 7:00 p.m. on the evenings of May 23rd, 24th, 25th, and 26th, and then a Sunday matinee performance at 2:00 p.m. on May 28th.

"Tickets are available at the school office anytime, but there will be tickets available at the door as well," said Band Teacher Brayden Jensen. "Come on and check out our show. The kids have worked hard and they're excited to perform."

He said there are plenty of musical numbers, choreographed 80s dance numbers, and acting parts for the many talented individuals involved in the show. For this reason, they have two separate casts to accommodate all five performances.

"Depending on which show you catch, you'll catch other cast A or cast B," he noted. "Both casts are doing really well and are ready to perform."

The leads of Robbie Hart and Julia Sullivan will be played by Owen Burdan and Lindsay VanDeWeyer for cast A, and Liam Evans and Kailyn McFadden for cast B. In fact, identical twins Tauren and Emerson Jack also share the role of Glenn Gulia.

Dress rehearsals begin this long weekend in order for everyone to be ready to go on opening night Tuesday.

"It's a huge process and a ton of commitment, too," Jensen commented. "It teaches kids a lot of life lessons along the way as well."

He added many of the performers have aspirations of music-related careers, while others just love to perform and they all look forward to the big production.

Tickets can be purchased at the WCS office. Admission for adults is $25, and $15 for seniors and students.
