The Borderline Men’s Fastball League held their year-end tournament this past weekend. With 12 games played over two days in Midale, the Plentywood Peckers would be the ones coming out on top, beating the Weyburn Renegades in the finals.

The tournament opened Saturday morning, with the Lake Alma Raiders topping the Ceylon Angels. This moved the Raiders up to a second-round matchup with the Renegades, who had a 1st round bye after finishing the regular season in first.

The Peckers opened up their tournament with a win over the Ogema Colts, while the Gladmar Braves beat the Midale Jays in the other first-round game.

On the A side of the tournament, the Renegades would beat Lake Alma to advance to the semi-finals, while Plentywood also advanced with a win over Gladmar. On the B side, Midale would fall to Ogema Saturday night, with Ogema advancing to play Lake Alma.

Gladmar would fall to Ceylon, ending their tournament, while Ogema topped Lake Alma to advance. Ogema would pick up the win and then would play the loser of the A side semi-final between Plentywood and Weyburn.

The Renegades would fall to Plentywood in the first matchup between the two teams, meaning Weyburn would have to beat the Colts if they wanted a rematch in the final. A 7-6 walk-off win in the bottom of the 7th would give the Renegades the victory, and they were up against Plentywood in a rematch.

In the finals, the Peckers would be the ones coming out on top, as they picked up a 9-5 win over the Renegades to win the Borderline Men’s Fastball League Championships.

For the individual awards, Rib Nyby from Plentywood was named the MVP of the weekend and was presented with the George Howard Golden Glove Award. Ricky Darvis from the Peckers received the Roger Storle Pitching Award, and Jeff Littlejohn from the Midale Jays was the recipient of the David Paul Duffy Most Sportsmanlike Player Award.
