The Young Fellows Club of Weyburn opened up their Tree Lot a week earlier than usual this year, and project chair Lee Tochor said they had people lined up at the gate when they opened for day one on Saturday.

"We had some lulls in there, we had some busy times," he shared. "I think everybody that left was a happy customer."

"We're pretty satisfied with the opening numbers. We did open up about a week earlier than we have in the past, so that probably played a little bit of part where they haven't been as strong as in the past."

With two types of trees this year, Fraser Fir and Balsam Fir, they've also got a different pricing option as well.

"They're both great quality trees," said Tochor. "With the premiums, we generally expect that there should be no defects, so the straight trunk, straight branches, straight everything."

"We also do provide Grade 1 balsam. With those, there can be a slight defect in them, but we are also charging them out as a unit. So whether you want to say six foot tree or maybe an eight foot tree, they're all encompassed in one price and it's a good quality option for somebody that maybe doesn't have the budget for a premium."

"I know for me, and a lot of members of the club, we've bought real Christmas trees for many years past, and for a lot of people might be a new experience, but there is just something to be said for having that aroma of a Christmas tree. It just kind of brings Christmas to life."

This Saturday, the Tree Lot will also have a special event so families, individuals, and other groups can come down for some festive photos for a suggested donation of $20.

"We encourage you to book ahead," he noted. "You can find that either on Sherry Lynn Photography, or on our website."

Tochor added this event has been a great success in the past.

"They are timing them out for two-minute intervals, and it is starting noon on December 2nd, this Saturday," he said. "Come dressed up, get a picture taken. You can get it all done in one spot, and plus we're putting on complementary hot chocolate."
