When you do all the work to start a business, it just makes good sense to join the local Chamber of Commerce.

Monica Osborn, Executive Director of the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce, said they welcome all businesses in and around the Weyburn area to consider membership.

"The higher our numbers are, the bigger the voice that we have," she said. "Being part of a Chamber of Commerce will help open those business doors to many contacts that will help your business grow, through the power of referrals and networking."

Osborn noted they do help out with some promotions on their Facebook and social media sites for businesses that join.

"They get an extra little promotion there, and that part is of no extra cost to them, it's just part of their membership."

She said as a Chamber they can advocate on behalf of businesses.

"The Chamber takes on those tough issues and may oppose new regulations, taxes, assessments, and costs that will negatively impact small businesses," she stated. "The Chamber is going to use our resources for the betterment of small business owners."

The Weyburn Chamber regularly hosts events, including 'Coffee with the Chamber', with a specific theme each time. The most recent coffee event featured the City of Weyburn's public works, police, fire, and administrative staff.

"The networking part is a major component of being part of a Chamber, and you just never know who's going to be at those events," Osborn noted. "Being able to provide those networking opportunities or the education or resources that we can provide out of our office to ensure that business owners are getting the information that they need to ensure that their business is growing and staying alive and prospering in in these times."

Chamber members are also more likely to be chosen over non-Chamber members by consumers.

"The stat on that is about 63 percent of consumers are more likely to buy products or services from businesses who are members of their local chamber," she told. "So it's a great way to get your name in there, promote it. We do promote our members first off when someone does call in for a referral, so that's kind of the main thing to keep in mind."

She said anyone interested in becoming a part of the Weyburn Chamber can call 306-842-4738 or find their website HERE. Find them on Facebook HERE
